Empowering Young People and Youth Workers to Become Active Upstanders in the Prevention of Violence Towards LGBTIQ+ People in the Digital Era

Facing homophobic violence is a priority across Europe and youth and professionals working with them play an essential role in this social transformation. In order to combat all forms of violence against LGBTIQ youth, educational and youth organizations must be committed to its prevention and overcoming. Empowering youth to intervene in violence situations and implementing evidence-based actions is crucial to build a diverse and egalitarian society.

FINAL CONFERENCE OF THE PROJECT (2022)

The Up4Diversity Final Conference was celebrated on July 5th, 2022. It took place in Brussels but had a hybrid format that allowed many people to participate from their countries.

Over 100 participants, from very diverse profiles and institutions joined for free most of the event on a working day. Attendees belonged to 20 different countries, universities, high schools, social entities, NGOs, organisations of youth and/or LGBTI/feminism/equality, Governmental or policymaking bodies or departments.

We enjoyed a dialogic and high-quality atmosphere, focused on evidence-based solutions to eradicate violence against LGBTIQ+ youth. You can check the main roundtables and Masterclass at our YouTube Channel.

MID-TERM CONFERENCE (2021)

An online conference was celebrated in September 2021. Due to the pandemic, it was not possible to meet in Tarragona, but the Consortium saw it as an opportunity to involve many more people from their homes.

The conference was a huge success, with more than 100 people representing at least 10 nationalities participating throughout the day. Great talks, new perspectives, and interesting discussions about issues faced by LGBT+ people on a daily basis filled the day creating even more awareness on how to be an upstander in your daily life.
